• 105(L) Leasing and ArcGIS Indoors

    Hello all,

First off, thank you to whom it may concern for putting this site and forum together, and for accepting my request to join.

I am the GIS Administrator for the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians from the coast of Oregon.

We’re currently exploring 105(L) leasing programs for reimbursements of facility costs through the BIA and IHS for tribal programs in CTCLUSI-owned buildings. My supervisor asked me to explore the use of ArcGIS Indoors for mapping out floor space use, and I was curious to hear if any other tribal GIS staff have used it for similar purposes at your respective governments.

Thanks in advance for sharing any experience or guidance you have!

That sounds like a great plan. I currently use Visio for my floorplans for the 105L program. I hadn’t heard about Arc indoor. I am going to check that out now. If you figure out how to do that, I would love any tips or tricks. Thanks for posting this.

    Hi Robert,

I’m Caroline Rouwalk, the BIA NW Regional Geospatial Coordinator, and you are one of the Tribes I serve. As you may well know, unfortunately, as of now ArcGIS Indoors is not software that is available through the ELA with BIA. There is hope that the software will one day be available through BIA at no cost to federally recognized Tribes. I have not heard of any of the NW Region Tribes using it currently. You could contact the ESRI Native Nations account managers, Chris Goh and Heston Smith. They may know if a Tribe is currently using it. In addition, they could give you details on the cost of acquiring ArcGIS Indoors software.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any GIS software concerns or any other geospatial related questions. Always happy to help.

      Hi Caroline,

Nice to connect with you! I have chatted with Chris Goh about Indoors and he offered to arrange a call with the product manager for it. I had been hoping to learn more about how other tribes manage data for 105(L) leasing beforehand, as part of the decision process regarding if Indoors is even worth the additional licensing cost.
