Why choose Geography at Miami University?
Our M.A. program provides students the choice, flexibility, and training to go on for a Ph.D. or to take a job related to their graduate education. Our program has only 12-15 students in residence each year, fostering a student to faculty ratio of nearly 1:1. We offer support for conference travel and summer thesis research. Graduate faculty members are strongly committed to teaching, advising, and research collaboration with graduate students.
Upon graduation, our students have found successful careers in geographic information sciences, environmental analysis and protection, urban and regional planning, geography-related publishing, and university administration, and gained acceptance and funding offers from top doctoral programs.
Miami University is located in Oxford, Ohio, approximately 35 miles northwest of Cincinnati, Ohio. Oxford is a charming college town that offers both a vibrant small-town atmosphere and rural amenities, yet is within an hour of both Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.
Application review starts February 1.
