For a project here at the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde,
I will have to create some detailed Metadata for several Feature Classes we created.
Is anybody out there creating FGDC or ISO metadata?
If so - why did you choose the standard you are using (ISO or FGDC)?

At Coeur d'Alene we did FDGC just because we had recieved a couple grants to get our data FDGC compliant. But after that we made a custom metadata editor that was custom to our data and our needs. So guess depends on if you have to be held to a standard for a grant or?

Another advantage to picking one of those formats is that some services like GOS and other metadata harvesting sites can host your metadata and make it searchable to people searching their databases if your metadata meets those standards

Used the Basic template at first then I heard some federal entities were recognizing and making FGDC a mandatory standard but there wasn't too much more that you had to do and it just looked like it displayed more of the background metadata. I will see your take on this issue at the conference since you had a year to think it over.later
