This is a copy of an email I sent out.

Halito (Hello),

I wanted to pass along a great tool that was released recently,

surveyor.arkansas.gov/glo-map/

The Division of Land Surveys for the State of Arkansas just released a new ArcGIS Online webmap that encompasses not just the Arkansas Government Land Office (GLO) maps, but also the notes. This is a great tool for any tribe who has an interest in Arkansas post 1830. Here is an example of how we would use this: During the Choctaw Trail of Tears there were written reports of Choctaw being buried in the woods nearby a small stage stand. Using the GLO maps we can find the old stage stand and mark the woods as having potential for graves. But what makes this tool great is access to the notes that have tidbits of information written by the land surveys in the 1830s and up.

Please forward this onto any Tribe you think may benefit.

Yakoke, (Thank you)
